What is the difference between a PPO Insurance and a DHMO Insurance Plan?

The difference between the two is that the latter (DHMO) is actually a discount plan. These insurance plans cut costs across the board to give patients steep discounts on their dental services. The downside to these plans is that many private practice dentists do not accept them due to the fact that the overhead is too high for such discount prices. You will notice that a lot of dental clinics do accept them because they have many offices in and around the city. Insurance companies actually pay these dental corporations a “capitation” every month so they continue to accept new patients with DHMO plans. It’s a trick that insurance companies have been using for years to lure dental companies into signing up with them.

Does your dental office accept Medicaid?

Best Dental does not currently accept medicaid patients. This may change in the near future as we have many patients in and around our area wondering if we do accept it. We will let the public know if this ever changes.

We are currently not taking any DHMO Plans currently, nor do we take Medicaid.

How do I know if I have a PPO insurance or a DHMO plan?

You can either call your insurance company and check with them, or contact one of our dental insurance specialists so we can check for you. If you are on a DHMO plan, we will definitely do our best to price match what your plan offers on major treatments like dental implants, wisdom teeth extractions, and dental crowns.

What is a Dental Savings Plan?

At Best Dental we offer an in house dental discount plan, also known as a dental savings plan. This is how it works: there is a $200/year fee that allows you to get two free dental exams and two regular dental cleanings a year. It also allows you to save up to 15% on all dental treatment for that year. It lasts one full calendar year, and can be renewed automatically based on your approval. At Best Dental, we will always do everything we can to help our patients with any financial questions that they may have. If you have any questions on pricing, or insurance coverage, please give our office a call today.
